In the Footsteps of Exiles: Bloomsbury History Walk In-Person
By walking in the footsteps of exiles we read between the lines of streets and squares, and encounter their stories more immediately. Part of the Being Human Festival 2025, this walk guides participants around the Bloomsbury they may think they know – that of Virginia Woolf – and reveals layers of other histories, existing like geological strata under our feet. We pause to pay attention to signs of past lives – blue plaques commemorating only some – and reveal the stories of refugees who came to Bloomsbury through the twentieth century.
